World Elephant Day

Join us for World Elephant Day on Tuesday, Aug. 12, and learn about the largest land mammal. Watch as our elephant herd receives special enrichment, and learn why elephant populations are dwindling. Currently, both Asian and African elephants face the risk of extinction in the wild.

Many organizations are working to help elephants in the wild, such as 96 Elephants. This campaign is named for the number of elephants that are killed by poachers each day in Africa. Learn more about 96 Elephants here. You can also learn more about elephant conservation by visiting our Lost Kingdom: Elephant interpretive center, which reopened in January.
