Tulsa Zoo Summer Camp 2013
Join us for some wild fun at the Tulsa Zoo Summer Camp! Camps include a Tulsa Zoo Summer Camp t-shirt (unless noted otherwise), live animal encounters, zoo hikes, hands-on activities, games, crafts, and fun. Both half-day and full-day sessions are available, depending on your child’s age. To ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for all children class size is limited to 16 participants.
Camps are listed below by age group. Also, don't miss our grandparent and sibling camps!
Parents please note that some camps repeat in the afternoons. Parents will receive weekly email reminders for registered camps the Friday prior to your child's selected week of camp.

Critter Tales - SOLD OUT!
Once upon a time our youngest campers came to the Tulsa Zoo and learned about elephants, owls, and llamas - OH MY! Story books come alive as our staff provides a mini-safari featuring crafts, live animal visits, and zoo hikes.
5 to 7 year olds
These 3-hour programs are designed for children between the ages of 5 and 7 years old. Please note, some sessions repeat at later dates. Participants should work well in group settings.

ZOO-motion - Half Day REGISTER NOW!
Slithering snakes, hopping frogs, swimming sea lions, flittering fowl, and so much more! Animals need movement and motion to stay alive, just like you and I. We’ll compare our locomotion skills to those of some of our zoo residents and see how we measure up!
Mystery Creatures - Half Day REGISTER NOW!
Mysterious mermaids, giant fire-breathing dragons, and frog princes? Come explore the world of magical creatures and discover the animals that inspire them. Campers will create their own mystery zoo and come face-to-face with a (bearded) dragon, elf (owl) and more.
Wet and Wild - Half Day REGISTER NOW!
“Dive” into this week of camp exploring the watery worlds that animals call home. While it’s hot outside we will stay cool learning about aquatic creatures. From turtle wrangling to sea lion impersonations, this adventure filled week will be both wet and wild!
Red, White, and Zoo! - SOLD OUT!
Join us as we explore the United States of Animals! We will discover animals that are adapted to some our great nation’s red deserts, white tundras, and blue waters majesty. We will visit the WildLIFE Trek buildings and some of the amazing inhabitants including grizzly bears, bald eagles, sea horses, and so much more.
8 & 9 year olds
These half-day programs are designed for children between the ages of 8 to 9 years old. Participants should sign up for either a morning or afternoon session of each camp, (not both) as zoo activities and locations are repeated.

Calling all worldwide tropical explorers, pack your bags and grab your safari hats! We are going on a journey in search of the brightest, boldest tropical animals. Colorful macaws, inquisitive lemurs and pondering pachyderms will brighten your camper’s day! We’ll sample some tropical treats and meet a slow-moving sloth.

Who has a twitter account? We know birds tweet, canines tweet, lions tweet, even keepers tweet. This week, campers learn how animals communicate amongst themselves and how we can communicate with zoo animals. Campers will experience how we communicate with animals to train and enrich their lives.
ZOOmbie Hunters - Half Day REGISTER NOW!
They go by many names, Bigfoot, El Chupacabara, The Kraken, and ZOOmbies but one thing remains elusive - the truth! Can grizzly bears, alligators, snakes, salamanders be some of our culprits? Join us as we hunt down these myths and expose the real life counterparts.
The Scoop on Poop - Half Day REGISTER NOW!
Call it what you like, the world needs poop! Discover some of nature’s nasties, from slimy salamanders, pooping pachyderms, smelly skunks to puking penguins. Find out why animals have all those amazing bodily functions, and you do, too! Campers will do some hands-on experiments to see if we can replicate some of these cool adaptations.
10 to 12 year olds
These half-day and full-day programs are designed for children between the ages of 10 and 12 years old. Children may enroll in a half-day or full-day session. A supervised lunch period will be provided for full day sessions.

Call of Dooty! - Half Day REGISTER NOW!
This isn’t a video game, this is real life Zoo poo! If you are looking for some action this summer come discover some of natures’ nasties, from slimy salamanders, pooping pachyderms, smelly skunks to puking penguins. We’ll explore the “hows and whys” animals have all those amazing bodily functions. No hand-to-hand combat here, just some hands-on experiments that will shed some light on some amazing animal adaptations.

So you want to be a vet? We challenge you this week to think and diagnose animal patient like a zoo veterinarian. Check out animal x-rays, view tissue samples, perform dissections, and visit our own zoo vet hospital. This week your group will be responsible for the care of a special zoo animal.

Cryptozoology (from Greek kryptos, "hidden" + zoology; literally, "study of hidden animals") involves the search for animals whose existence has not been proven, yet. Are grizzly bears the real bigfoot? Can sea lions be mistaken for mermaids? Have you seen el chupacabra or was it a mangie coyote? Are there more to these stories? Join us this week to find out!

This camp is designed for siblings ages 4 through 12 years old. One child between eight and twelve years old must attend with a younger sibling between four and seven years old.

Sibling Safari - SOLD OUT!
Safari-up with your siblings as we journey across the globe this week! We will make stops in Africa, South America, and Asia to visit wildlife including giraffes, painted dogs, chimps, and more. Campers will get a taste of what life might be like in an African Maasai village creating crafts and learning hunting and gathering skills.

The first rule of camp is “No Parents Allowed!” We will explore ways to make the most of your time with your grandchild during this adventurous week of camp. Get ready to get your hands dirty making animal enrichment items, visiting with zoo keepers, taking zoo hikes and training your grandparent!
