Summer Camp 2014 - Register Today!

Experience the WILDEST summer camps in town!  With binoculars ready, nets in-hand and zoo exploration ahead, join us at the Tulsa Zoo Summer Camps. Camps include a Tulsa Zoo Summer Camp t-shirt (unless noted otherwise), live animal encounters, zoo hikes, hands-on activities, games, crafts, and untamed fun!  Both half-day and full-day sessions are available, depending on your child’s age. To ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for all children class size is limited to 16 participants.

 

Parents please note that you will need to bring a birth certificate as verification of your child’s age. If you don’t receive an electronic confirmation/receipt within 24 hours of registering online, please contact the Zoo’s Education Department at 918-669-6219 or email us at education@tulsazoo.org.

 

Parents will receive weekly email reminders for registered camps the Friday prior to your child’s selected week of camp. Drop-off and pick-up details will also be sent after your registration is received. 

 

Grandparent Camps (children 5 - 12 with one grandparent)

"Grand" Explorers Nocturnal Animals, June 16 - June 19 The first rule of camp is "No Parents Allowed!" This camp is designed for one grandparent and a grandchild between 5 to 12 years of age. We will explore ways to make the most of your time with your grandchild during this adventurous week of camp. When the lights go out animals use some remarkable adaptations to help them navigate their night time environment. From seismic sound to odor receptors galore we will discover how animals use their senses to explore the dark. How will your senses match up against some of the masters of the night? Please note that this camp runs Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and then Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. When registering, please only register the adult that will be attending with the grandchild. $155 per grandparent/grandchild pair Zoo Members, $165 per grandparent/grandchild pair Non-Members.

 

"Grand" Explorers Oklahoma iWild, July 14 - July 18, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm The first rule of camp is "No Parents Allowed!" Get ready to explore Oklahoma wildlife and plants using some amazing technology, visit with zoo keepers, take zoo hikes, and learn a few new techno-tricks from your grandchild! 3-4 Years & Parent Camps

Child must be registered with one parent.  The price of this one day camp does not include Tulsa Zoo Summer Camp t-shirt(s).  Register for one camp or all. Cost is $25 per child with parent for zoo members; $35 for non-members.

5-6 Year Old Camps

These 3-hour programs are designed for children between the ages of 5 and 6 years old.  Please note, some sessions repeat at later dates.  Participants should work well in group settings. Select camp name for time and cost details.

Everyone has heard of astronauts, but what about aqua-nauts? Aqua-nauts are those daring explorers pushing the final frontier here on Earth- in the water! From sea horse wrangling to sea lion impersonations, this camp will surely make a splash on you Aqua-naut. A special visit to our Sea Lion Cove is on tap for this aqua-adventure!

Young paleontologists will learn how to excavate fossils, discover the nests of giant extinct beasts, and experience animals of present day that remind us of those from the past. Join us for a camp of prehistoric proportions!

Your young wiggly one will be learning about bugs this week. We will be using insect nets to catch wigglies in the air and water nets for our aquatic friends. We will find invertebrates high and low. If digging into some good old-fashioned dirt in search of night-crawlers is your idea of a good time, you can't miss this camp!

These half-day and full-day programs are designed for children between the ages of 7 to 9 years old. A supervised lunch period will be provided for campers registering for full-day camps.  Participants registering for full-day camps may sign up for after-care sessions from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Select camp name for time and cost details.

 

Aqua Avengers, June 9 - June 13, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm This camp is now full! To be added to our waiting list, register online. We will contact you if a spot becomes available.

It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's an Aqua Avenger! From super suckers, to powerful snappers, to bold venomous shooters, we will learn about some amazing aquatic animals right here at the Tulsa Zoo! We will venture through Life in the Water to find some of our most amazing aquatic heroes. We will see our super diving sea lions during the week as well. After-care is available with this camp from 2-4 p.m. for an additional $50.

Insectigations, June 30 - July 4, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm So you think life is tough? Try spending a day as an ant in their amazingly complex societies. Watch a meal worm metamorphosis into a beetle. Attract and identify nocturnal as well as diurnal insects, and learn how cockroaches have thrived for over 350 million years! Once you examine these curious characters close-up, you will never overlook a bug again.

 

Zoo Dunnit? June 16 - June 20, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm This camp is now full! To be added to our waiting list, register online. We will contact you if a spot becomes available.

Was it the keeper or the veterinarian? Zoo Dunnit? We will canvass the Zoo, look for clues, and collect evidence to see if we can find a crucial clue to the zoo crimes during this week of camp. We will learn different wildlife investigations techniques where the "inside scoop" is not just a metaphor. On Friday, we will put all of our hard won knowledge to the test when trying to determine....Zoo Dunnit!

 

Zoo Dunnit? July 14 - July 18, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm This camp is now full! To be added to our waiting list, register online. We will contact you if a spot becomes available.

Perfecting archeological dig techniques, creating casts from real bones, and riding a Tyrannosaurs Rex sunken into the earth are only part of this prehistoric week of camp. This opportunity will only come once in several million years - see these animals before they become.....extinct! After-care is available with this camp from 2-4 p.m. for an additional $50.

10 - 12 Year Olds 

These half-day and full-day programs are designed for children between the ages of 10 and 12 years old. Children may enroll in a half-day or full-day session.  A supervised lunch period will be provided for full day sessions.  Participants registering for full-day camps may sign up for after-care sessions from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Select camp title for time and cost details.

From super sucking sea horses, to mighty diving otters, to powerful alligator snapping turtles, we will learn about some amazing aquatic animals and how they help their habitats right here at the Tulsa Zoo! We will venture through Life in the Water to find some of the most amazing aquatic heroes. Campers will become aquatic heroes as well as they learn some things they can do to help out some of our aquatic critters right here at home. After-care is available from 2-4 p.m. for this session for an additional $50.

Someone, or something, is up to some unusual shenanigans here at the Tulsa Zoo, and it's up to you to find out who did it. We will learn different wildlife investigations techniques where the "inside scoop" is not a metaphor. On Friday, we will put all of our hard won knowledge to the test when trying to solve the wild mysteries that we encounter throughout the week. 

CSI Zoo, July 28 - August 1, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Help the CSI-Zoo Team as they investigate crimes at the Zoo! Someone, or something, is up to some unusual shenanigans here at the Tulsa Zoo, and it's up to you to find out who did it. We will learn different wildlife investigations techniques where the "inside scoop" is not a metaphor. On Friday, we will put all of our hard won knowledge to the test when trying to solve the wild mysteries that we encounter throughout the week. 

Skeleton Crew, June 30 - July 4, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm We've got a bone to pick with you! Actually, we will be picking lots of bones...fossils...and other ancient remains during this prehistoric adventure. During this camp we will journey back in time, starting with the Cambrian Explosion, looking at creatures of the Cretaceous Period, examining a mock bison kill site for signs of ancient human, plus more, so join the crew!

Join us as we go turtle tagging, bug counting, and mammal trapping. If stomping through the fields going critter catching is your idea of a good time, join the zoo in the field this summer. We will catch all this Zoo Reality on film so we can see the "live action" at the Zoo!

Sibling Camps (4-12 year-old pairs) - NOW FULL

Sibling Safari, July 28 - August 1 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, This camp is now full! Thank you for your interest in the Sibling Safari Camp.  We have received over 10 waitlist registrations and no cancelations or transfers.  We are no longer accepting more waitlist registrations at this time.

Safari-up with your siblings as we journey across Oklahoma this week without leaving the Zoo! We will make "stops" in the swamps and lowlands of Southeastern Oklahoma to the high-plains of Northwestern Oklahoma, and venture to the southwest to the arid Oklahoma to visit wildlife including red-tailed hawks, hog-nosed snakes, bobcats, and more. Campers will get to explore this great state we call home where they will get a taste of the entire state right here at the Zoo! One child between eight and twelve years old must attend with a younger sibling between four and seven years old. Cost for the camp is for the pair of siblings. When registering, only register the oldest sibling in the pair. Cost is $155 per pair for zoo members, $165 per pair for non-members. This class is now full, but you can get your name on our waiting list by registering online. We will contact you if there is a cancellation.
