You can also elect to be judged as a Competitive Race Walker (USATF Rule) at no extra cost, or you can sign up as a "Sleep Walker" to receive a shirt if you don't want to participate in the race. Shirts are $20.

 

Packet Pick Up

Race packets may be picked up at the Tulsa Zoo the morning of the race, between 7 and 8 am. There is a two-day turnaround for packet pick ups. Packets can be picked up at the New Balance Tulsa in Utica Square, on any of the following days:

Saturday, September 29................................10 am to 7 pm

Sunday, September 30...................................Noon to 6 pm

Monday, October 1 - Friday October 4...........10 am to 7 pm

 

Awards

Join us at our H.A. Chapman Event Lodge for the post-race hospitality party, which will include the St. John's Kid's Club, entertainment, beverages and treats from Tulsa area establishments. Awards will be given following the conclusion of each race. Medals will be awarded to: top 3 males and females overall in the 5k and 10k races based on Open and Masters competition; top 3 male and females for 5k and 10k races in the standard age groups; top three male and female race walkers in 5k and 10k races; Male & female overall winners in the Tiger Challenge; and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.

A link to the final results will be posted here by noon on Monday October 7, 2013. Unclaimed medals may be picked up at the zoo Admissions office on Monday, October 7, 2013 between 9 am and 5 pm.

 

Course Info

The 5k and 10k races are certified by USA Track & Field. The courses wind through Mohawk Park and end inside the Tulsa Zoo. The St. John Fun Run takes place entirely on zoo grounds. For a map of the courses, go to www.tulsazoo.org. 

 

Parking Info

You MUST be inside the Mohawk Park gates and parked by 8:25am. The gates close at this time for the safety of the runners. No exceptions and no refunds will be given due to late arrival. Gates will reopen at 10am.

To avoid race day congestion, you can access the main zoo parking lot by using the alternate zoo entrance. You will turn on N. Winston Avenue which is just west of Yale off of East 36th Street North. Winston Avenue merges with Mohawk Blvd. Follow Mohawk Blvd. around the golf course directly into the zoo parking lot. Sheridan experiences the most traffic; East 36th street can also be accessed via Harvard and Yale. What is ZooRun?
ZooRun is THE family-friendly race in Tulsa!  Whether you’re a strolling tortoise or a racing hare, with a 5k, 10k, Tiger Challenge, and 1-mile FunRun, there is a pace for everyone!  ZooRun is the 2nd oldest running event in Tulsa and 6th largest race in the state!
 
How do I register?
In person: Tulsa Zoo Admissions Office during regular hours, or, beginning September 29th,at New Balance Tulsa at Utica Square.

Am I guaranteed a t-shirt?
All pre-registered runners that are registered prior to September 28 are guaranteed a t-shirt. 
Otherwise, all t-shirts and t-shirt sizes are available on a first come, first serve basis.
 
What is a Sleep Walker?
Sleep Walkers are those individuals who would like to support the zoo, but don't want to participate in the ZooRun. You can pay $20 and receive a 2012 St. John ZooRun shirt!
 
Can I qualify for the Tulsa Run with my ZooRun time?
Yes! Run a qualifying time (see below) in the ZooRun 10k for a guaranteed spot up front at the Tulsa Run 15k.

Can I push my baby in a stroller?
Yes! Strollers are allowed in our 5k and 1-mile FunRun ONLY.  Please stage yourself at the back of the pack for the safety of the other runners.
 
How is the race timed?
The 5k, 10k run and Tiger Challenge will be timed using electronic timing. All runners and walkers in these races will need to wear a timing device on their shoe in order to receive a time and finish result. Chips MUST be picked up the morning of the race. *Tiger Challenge based on gun time only.
 
Why do the gates close at 8:25am for parking?
The gates close at 8:25am on race day for the safety of the runners.  The 5k begins at 8:30am in Mohawk Park, so all cars need to be parked at this time.  No exceptions and no refunds will be given due to late arrival.  Gates will reopen at 10am. 
***Please allow at least 20 extra minutes to your normal drive for race day traffic.
 
Can my family come to the zoo to cheer me on?
YES!  Until 10am, families can enter the zoo for free to cheer on runners at the finish line!
