ANSWERS

1. I bought a membership, now what? Welcome to Zoo Friends!  Memberships are active from the time of purchase, whether or not you have your card.  If you have your card, just pick the shortest line when you get here and give the cashier your card.  If you haven't received your card, bring your ID to the Information Building to pick up you card or find out if it was mailed. If you ever forget your card, all cashiers can look up your membership using your ID.  Once again, just pick the shortest line.
TIP: Members' Window at the Information Building is an express line for Members only, however, it tends to be the longest line on week days because more members visit during the week.  Always check for a shorter line at admissions.

2. When will I receive my membership card? If you buy onsite, you get your card instantly.  If you order online, we immediately process your membership and will have your card available for pick-up at the Members'Window on your next Zoo visit.  Depending on volume, the online orders can be ready in as little as an hour.  If you mail in your membership sign-up form, we process it the day it is received and then mail it out within 48 hours.  If you want to pick up your mailed-in membership, just make a note on your form and we will have it here for you.


3. Can I visit the zoo before I receive my membership card? Sure! But if you're visiting soon after purchase, your best option would be to just pick up the card when you visit. The information office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

5. What if I don't want to purchase/renew my membership online? No problem! There are four other ways you can purchase or renew your membership: 1) In person: Visit the Tulsa Zoo Friends Membership Kiosk from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily 2) By phone: Call the Tulsa Zoo Friends Membership Office at (918) 669-6603, (918) 669-6630, or (918)669-6602. The membership office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays. 6. When does my membership expire? All Tulsa Zoo Friends memberships are valid for one year. Your membership is active from the day you join and expires at the end of the month the following year. For example, if you sign up or renew your membership March 1, 2009, it is active that day and will expire March 31, 2010.



7. Does my membership include unlimited admission? Yes! Membership includes unlimited, year-round admission to the Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum during regular operating hours.



8. Is there a charge for parking? No. Tulsa Zoo Friends members do not pay to enter in Mohawk Park. However, the Tulsa Parks Department charges a $2 entry fee for non-members to enter Mohawk Park on weekends and holidays during the months of April through October. If you purchase or renew your membership at the Tulsa Zoo, a parking decal will be included in your welcome packet. If you purchase or renew your membership through the mail, fax or online, a parking decal will accompany your membership card. If you did not receive your decal, or have misplaced it, just ask for a replacement decal next time you visit. Your membership card or confirmation e-mail will also work for for free entry into the park.



9. How do I submit an address change? You may change your address in person by Visiting the Tulsa Zoo Friends Information Office daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by phone: Call the membership office at (918) 669-6603 or (918) 669-6630. The membership office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays. 3) By e-mail: Send an email to members@tulsazoo.org. Include your membership ID number, member names, current phone number and address (please also list your old address if you’ve recently moved).



10. Can I give my membership to a friend or family member to use in my place? No. Tulsa Zoo Friends memberships are non-transferable and are only valid for the person(s) whose name(s) appears on the card. Supporting photo ID is required for entrance.



11. Can I visit the zoo if I lost my membership card? Sure! Just bring your photo ID and stop by the Tulsa Zoo Friends Information Office to verify your membership status. The information office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. An additional or replacement membership card can be purchased: • In person: Visit the Tulsa Zoo Friends Information Office daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. • By phone: Call the membership office at (918) 669-6603 or (918) 669-6630. The membership office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays.



12. What if I didn't receive my membership card? If you purchased your membership onsite after March 12, 2010, you received your card at the time of purchase. If you purchased online after April 20, 2010, your card will be at the information office unless you requested that it be mailed. If you bought online prior to April 20, 2010 and still don't have your card, please contact us.  If you mailed in your renewal and  it has been more than two weeks since you sent it, call the membership office at (918) 669-6603 or e-mail members@tulsazoo.org. The membership office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays.



13. Can I still receive my discount at zoo gift shops without my membership card? Yes, just make sure you get a RECEIPT from admissions showing that you are a current member.



14. Is my membership tax deductible? Yes! Your payment, less the fair market value of the benefits you receive, is deductible for income tax purposes. Under the Internal Revenue Services guidelines, the estimated value of standard-level membership benefits is not substantial; therefore the full amount of your payment is a deductible contribution. For tax deduction information for donor level memberships including Order of the Ostrich, Order of the Snow Leopard, Order of the Chimpanzee, Order of the Lion and Order of the Elephant, call (918) 669-6603 or members@tulsazoo.org between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.



15. Is my membership accepted at other zoos? Yes! There are more than 100 zoos and aquariums throughout the United States that will offer you FREE or discounted admission as a Tulsa Zoo Friends member. To view the list, click here. If the zoo or aquarium you would like to visit is not listed, you may want to contact them, as some will offer other admission discounts.



16. Do I get discounted admission to zoo events as a member? Yes! There are several zoo events and activities throughout the year to which Tulsa Zoo Friends members will receive discounted admission/tickets. Some discounted events and activities include ZooFari, WALTZ on the Wild Side and HallowZOOeen. For more information about these events, please call (918) 669-6614 or email events@tulsazoo.org.



17. Can I get into the Jenks Aquarium for free as a Tulsa Zoo Friends member? No. At this time, the Jenks Aquarium does not participate in the reciprocal program.



18. Does the Oklahoma City Zoo allow Tulsa Zoo Friends members in free? No. But the Oklahoma City Zoo does offer Tulsa Zoo Friends members a 50 percent discount on admission fees.



19. What is/how can I sign up for Starry Safari? Starry Safari is the Tulsa Zoo’s member-only overnight event. Each Starry Safari season begins in the spring and continues through the fall. For just $30 for adults and $25 for children ages 3 to 21, Starry Safari campers enjoy dinner, an evening animal chat, free train and carousel rides, a marshmallow roast, enchanting storytelling around a blazing campfire, breakfast and a morning animal presentation.
